I don't like this, but I'm unsure if theres a nicer way of doing this. How should the event counter information be passed through?
not perfect, far from perfect
Add software timeout in acquisition hot loop. df_classes() parameter bug fix. Recording data to the buffer while not recording to h5 bug fix.
